May Feature of the Month: Silver Diner
Silver Diner, with 14 locations in Maryland and Virginia, is launching its new Spring/Summer menu this month. The locally-owned chain sources fresh seasonal ingredients from local farms and embraces healthier options – including vegan starters, entrees, and desserts!
The menu clearly labels dishes as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lower-fat/cholesterol so that every guest can find their perfect meal. Some dishes also have nutritional information listed so diners can easily see the healthier choices on the menu.
For a fun vegan meal, start off with the shareable portion of Black Bean Hummus or a bowl of SD Veggie Chili. The main course can be as light and fresh as the Summer Citrus Salad or choose the heartier Warm Roasted Local Veggie Salad, loaded with vegetables, herbs, greens, dried fruit, and nuts. If you’re looking for a more substantial entrée, Silver Diner has two new vegan dishes on the menu: Pesto Veggie Pasta, made with whole wheat angel hair and a lemony pesto sauce, and Santa Fe Roasted Veggies. They also offer the low-fat Mango Vegetarian Stir Fry, with ginger, cilantro, edamame, veggies, and noodles.
If you’ve left room for dessert, Silver Diner is introducing dairy-free shakes and sundaes! Try the vegan Soy Dream Sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and raspberries or make it an authentic diner visit by ordering the Chocolate Raspberry Shake.
